However, his comments deserve a response (he didn't post them on my site, they are on his site at www.darinjamesonline.com - under "Thoughts- by Darin James"). They are copied here below in case he updates/changes his page.
I recently received a few negative guestbook posts.... from Athiests as they call themselves. I have always been a believer in free speech and the beliefs of others .
If there were, truly, "a few", he deleted them. I did add another one yesterday that I don't feel is "nasty" but it might be to someone who lies to people for a living. (Or "thiests"??)
It amazes me how people of opposing beliefs will search you out and push their negative comments upon you or me as in recent events.
Sorry Darin, you fail. You actively are advertising your services on a public website. You "invited me" to your website and when I got there you clearly stated "Sign my Guestbook" - you had to have predicted I would have done such.
If you don't believe why look it up,look into it or even comment .
Because it is important to tackle lies, misinformation and woo-woo artists where ever and whenever possible. You aren't providing a noble service - you do not have psychic abilities and it is important that people remind others of that (apparently way more than we are!).
I am open to any and all comments and read them all but there is no reason to be nasty.
I don't think my comments were nasty - they may have attacked your core beliefs and I'm sorry - oh wait, no I'm not.
You have the same rights to believe what you do as I have to believe what I do. Be it the supernatural or religious freedoms.
That is something we both agree on. Awesome!
You have your reasons for not believing same as we have ours for believing what we do.
Crap, Darin, why'd you go and ruin it? We had some common ground! I would venture far from comparing my "beliefs" (based on evidence) with your "beliefs" (in spite to evidence). You are welcome to back your "beliefs" up since you are claiming something.
Wouldn't it be nice if we accepted people for who and what they are?
YES! Sort of. We accept your right to live a full life but I don't accept your desire to mislead people (and charge them for it)!
We are so blessed to live in a country that allows freedom of thought and speech .
Blessed isn't the word I'd use. Many, many people lost their lives to give us the right to free speech. I'm interested in giving them the credit for it - not some supernatural (non-existent) being or power. (A special thanks to all who defend our freedoms.) (The statement of being blessed to live in a country that allows freedom of speech is interesting considering he is suggesting the suppression of it.) The right to free speech does not include a right to have your feelings protected, though, Darin.
I thank everyone for coming to my site and leaving comments .
You're welcome! And I invite your comments on my site too, Darin!
If you have a story you would like to share with others e mail me and I may post it to share with everyone.
I shared my story and you deleted it. Honesty isn't a dominant character trait for you, is it Darin?

Darin, I invite you to make me look like an idiot. Provide us some evidence to support your "abilities" and I'll post a full apology stating my complete adoration and respect for you. (Just remember, evidence isn't just shit you make up! Making shit up is called "psychic counselling".)

I really don’t see how Darin invited you to his site? I suspect you were trolling through the classifieds seeking out such sites.. and individuals so you might bash them.
Sniping 101.. you waited, located your prey.. and took shots under the safe glow of your computer monitor.

So.. you admit that you sought him out.. and that you were in fact not invited, as you state earlier. Honestly.. is such a slippery slope. But I guess it’s an interpretation thing..
And you know he is not providing a noble service…how? Or do you merely believe it? What if he a very empathic person.. devoid of any true psychic ability… but able to connect with people on another mainstream level? What if this appeared to him, and others to be psychic ability…. Would those helped not be assisted regardless of their beliefs? That might be a noble cause. Even if paid. I don’t know… again I think you were just out sniping.
If he knows himself that he does not have this ability…. Then you are hitting the nail right on the head… but to make your comments you must have knowledge of what is in his head.. Which would make you a mind reader.. and sorry.. I just don’t believe in that sort of stuff.

I can’t comment on this one. I haven’t seen the original comments. Care to post them here?

Why would you care that you agree with someone, on any level …when your entire purpose was to humiliate and degrade from the onset? I mean, you sought this person out.. why feel “awesome” that you have anything to agree on? Or was that more of your witty sarcasm.. like the sorry.. no actually I’m not????
“You have your reasons for not believing same as we have ours for believing what we do.

What evidence do you have to support your beliefs? I mean honestly.. how do you prove a negative? I think there is a load of evidence out there.. and just plain common sense that can tackle religious beliefs.. heck just using their own doctrines can usually do it. If they haven’t been brainwashed even a person of fairly low intelligence can usually pick up on the contradictions inherent in religious texts.. as well as those found in support of any other supernatural area. It’s easy pickings as far as I’m concerned. So given that… why aren’t you doing this instead of just bashing… the bar set a little too high on the requirement to for picking up the contradictions?
But that’s his beliefs.. I’m curious how either of you could prove your beliefs (based on evidence)
Yours would be based on lack of evidence… (god doesn’t exist.. we get it.. really)
His may be based on false interpretation of evidence.. but at least it’s something..
In any event.. I think you both have common ground here.. it’s shaky… but common. And really… I think that is just special.
“Wouldn't it be nice if we accepted people for who and what they are?
YES! Sort of. We accept your right to live a full life but I don't accept your desire to mislead people (and charge them for it)!”
Well, I can’t argue there. I don’t think anyone should mislead anyone. Ever. But again.. how do you know that he is or has??? How do you know this to be true? And.. the answer must not be.. “because I don’t believe” or “there is no evidence to support it”… I think it should be something along the lines of “he can not substantiate his claims, and therefore my belief is that they are false”. See.. what I did there? I kind of made this about your beliefs.. instead of accepting what you say as fact. Just like you don’t’ wish anyone to accept what he says as fact.
I like that you both are watching out for people. Hey, perhaps you have more common ground.

Yeah.. you know it always bothered me when something would go really well for someone and they’d say “Thank God”.. but when something would go terrible.. they would never say “God you bastard!!”. It can’t go both ways. If “god” is responsible for the good, then he must be for the bad… famine, war, sour milk, reality tv etc…
I agree… we must never lose our link with those who died, suffered or sacrificed to protect these freedoms you are now enjoying. And.. you are enjoying them right? It gives you the right to seek out people.. snipe at them.. get a kick out of their comments and know.. just know that you have made a real difference in this world. Why volunteer at a soup kitchen, or teach someone to read.. or hell serve as those you thank for protecting your freedom have… when you can rise to the noble level of thought protector?? Good call.. I’m certain the good you have done here , the time invested, supersedes that done by actually getting dressed .. walking away from the computer and physically helping. Why believe in a crazy spiritual world.. when you can exist in a very real internet reality? Good call!

Yup again.. I can’t comment on whatever your comments were. I’m positive they were insightful.. and done to selflessly assist the world. Not to feed any ego.. or need to torment. Though.. I do wonder what this has to do with honesty. Did he tell everyone he wouldn’t delete negative comments? I don’t see anything on his site claiming that all posts would remain up regardless of content. I don’t see anything dishonest in this at all. He thanks folks for coming.. Invites comments.. then says he “may” share the story with everyone.
Sorry.. I just don’t see why you would call this dishonest or attack his character here.

Honestly. It is a good challenge, and a fair one. I just don’t see why anyone should take the time to try to make anyone look like an idiot. Especially when that person demonstrates the ability to reach that spot unassisted. You are doing fine, why invite anyone in to slow you down or cast doubt? For goodness sake (good thing I threw that extra “o” in eh?).
Truly Skeptic dude, I rather read your comments on the evidence you have.. in general. Not some specific attack on one individual that you know nothing about. Seek out the lies inherent in society, and comment on them.. as concepts. Debate them.. prove that your logic outranks their logic..
I’d like to read that.
Cheers!!
Regarding the three posts.
I wasn't "trolling through the classifieds seeking out such sites" - I've visited the site on a regular basis for more than 10 years and this is the first time I've seen an advertisement of this type. If I "troll" the classifieds site for this sort of thing, it wouldn't be all that fruitful. Either way, he advertised his site (which is solicitation for visitors).
As for offering a noble service, psychics don't. There are ample ways for a 'psychic' to show they have such claimed powers but they have never done so (all have failed who have tried).
I don't know what the other comments were so I can't post them. Darin claims that a few were posted but none were on the site for us to view.
The second post is a stupid one - I don't have to prove a negative. When it comes to someone suggesting that a "god" exists, the burden of proof is on them.
The latter part of the post relates to the question of beliefs and is old and tired. The burden of proof, again, does not lie with the non-believer. I have tackled biblical contradictions but "psychics" need to be exposed also.
I wouldn't agree, either, about different interpretations of evidence. Anecdotes (biased) are hardly (if at all) evidence.
The third post is more interesting - and I sure don't agree with the premise. "Helping" someone by giving them false hope or providing a cold reading isn't an act of charity.
As for what I do - the time spent doing these blogs is far less than what is required for the repetitive tasks (since the topic of religion was raised)/stories told/myths reaffirmed that is religion.
What I do to help others and the community at large has never been something I've bragged about or looked for recognition for. What I do for other people I do for no other reason than because it is right - I don't expect a reward (now or in the afterlife). I'm absolutely sure that my work is more fruitful than providing 'psychic' readings ever has been. (And it's honest!)
And debating someone who will has little interest in the truth is even less fruitful. Pointing out the absurdity of such people could, at least, reaffirm non-believers or assist fence-sitters.
If these people are left to promote their services unquestioned, we're all to blame if someone gets taken by them.
Would you step in if you knew someone was planning on robbing others?
I wish I could connect with you but I can't find a link. "Scheiding" is correct! He does not wish to be associated with us because we raised him and know the truth! In fact he has brainwashed his 2 children to post their names as 1st & middle. He thinks he can read people LOL guess he will have to wait until I die to know how the person who raised him feels. At least we don't have to notify him when anyone in his adopted family has died (as if he gives a s _ _ t)~ he should know!
