Psychics and Prayers Fail (As Usual)

Despite all the prayers that Tori would be found alive, that was not to be the case. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2009/07/21/10206241-cp.html

Time to play Dan Barker's song, Nothing Fails Like Prayer. (And it is proven!)

And, as usual, psychics provided thousands of tips to the police in the search for Tori's body - the tips were either worthless (very likely) or were simply not followed up on (unlikely). Tori's body was found but not with the help of psychics (definitely with the hindrance of them).

This kind of failure is getting old - here's one from 2003.

The problem of evil is always ignored by the religious. It drives me mad when such evil is done to a child and the whole time religious people are praying to bring the child home. And when the child is found dead, they just make an excuse and say it was "all part of God's plan". Disgusting irrationality.

I mean, what the hell is the point of praying if God already had the plan for the child anyway? Your God doesn't care for little children's safety. That's because your god is a fairy tale.

Corunna Skeptic - Bart Ehrman has a great book out called "God's Problem". He went to Moody Bible School and then through the Princeton Theological Seminary and lost his faith dealing with the issue of why we suffer.

The book is well written and handles the different reasons/justifications for the problem of suffering and then shows, clearly, why they're empty (and contradictory).

Thanks. I'll have to check it out. I learned at a young age I was being duped by the claim of an all-loving, all-powerful god when I realized how much evil and cruelty there is in the world.
